Save the Child Initiative (STCI), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), with Women Right Advancement Protection Alternative (WRAPA), to implement United Nation Spotlight Initiative Project in Sokoto state. The project is aimed at reducing the incidence of Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV), and providing support for survivors of SGBV in the state. Save the Child Initiative will be strengthening the capacity of local groups selected from Binji, Sokoto North, Illela and Bodinga LGAs of Sokoto state, collaborate and network with state actors and security operatives. Achievements during the quarter under review include:
- Organized a one-day strategy sessions on effective development of tools and mechanisms to promote GEWE, and generate a Zero Tolerance culture for VAWG/SGBV/HP and denial of SRHR in Sokoto state.
- Trained 40 participants (Women advocates, PLWD, PLWHIV. Youth, Widows and IDPs) on how to organize movement for social change by monitoring and demanding accountability leading to sustainable prevention of VAMG/SGBV/HP and promotion of SRHR.
- Organized a one day skills sets strengthening sessions targeted at Networks/Coalition of women organization and vulnerable persons’ platform to demand accountability and enhance coordination on VAWG, including SGBV/HP and GEWE advocacy. Find below media link of the training.
