Save the Child Initiative (STCI), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), with Women’s Rights Advancement Protection Alternative (WRAPA), to implement United Nations Spotlight Initiative Project in Sokoto state. The project is aimed at reducing the incidence of Sexual Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), and providing support for survivors of SGBV in the state. Save the Child Initiative will be strengthening the capacity of local groups selected from Binji, Sokoto North, Illela and Bodinga LGAs of Sokoto state, collaborating and networking with state actors and security operatives. Activities implemented during the quarter under review include:
- One-day strategy meeting on effective assessment of Nigeria’s progress towards Institutional SDGs Benchmarks for SGBV, HP and SRHR.
- One-day multi-stakeholder dialogue meetings to brainstorm, identify challenges, opportunities, and jointly plan to inform capacity strengthening strategies for GEWE, EVAWG and SRHR.
- One day high-level strategic engagement with state duty bearers to identify challenges, opportunities, and joint planning to inform capacity strengthening strategies and promote joint advocacy for GEWE, EVAWG and SRHR in Sokoto state.
