The project is aimed at improving access to safe water supply to the people of Sokoto state. Save the Child Initiative (STC), continued with the implementation of activities across the Zones of “A” YarAkija, “B” IBRO and “C” Mabera Urban areas of Sokoto North and Sokoto South LGAs of Sokoto state. Achievements during the quarter under review include:
- Advocacy visit successfully conducted to Managing Director of Sokoto State Environmental Protection Agency.
- Press conference successfully held in collaboration with HCOMDI, CHANGE Initiative and OGP at American Space of Usman Danfodio University School of Matriculation Studies Sokoto to advocate for the signing of the MOU and WASH policy by Sokoto state government. - The organization successfully participated in a current affairs radio program on the status of the MOU and WASH policy in Sokoto state at Garkuwa FM Radio Station Sokoto.
- Update and best practices shared during the Quarterly Coalition meeting with Women Group, Youth Group, WASH Customer Committees, Media, School WASH Clubs and Community of Practices. - Support and commitment of the District Head of Gagi guaranteed in addressing the challenges of the delay in signing the MOU and WASH Policy by Sokoto state government.
- Women group members reached 2,734 households during house to house visit with messages on water, sanitation and hygiene across the zones of YarAkija, IBRO and Mabera Urban areas of Sokoto North and Sokoto South LGAs of Sokoto state.
- 2,734 household members knowledge strengthened on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), across the zones of YarAkija, IBRO and Mabera Urban areas of Sokoto North and Sokoto South LGAs of Sokoto state.
- Update shared and knowledge of Urban WASH community structures strengthened during monthly review meetings across the zones of YarAkija, IBRO and Mabera Urban areas of Sokoto North and Sokoto South LGAs of Sokoto state.
- Women group, Youth group and WCC members monitored and mentored across the zones of YarAkija, IBRO and Mabera Urban areas of Sokoto North and Sokoto South LGAs of Sokoto state.
